In 2 Thessalonians 3, Paul asks the Thessalonians to pray for them and warns them against irresponsible behavior.

Explain:

Paul begins this chapter by asking the Thessalonians to pray for them. He asks them to pray that the word of the Lord would spread rapidly and be honored, like it was for the Thessalonians. Paul knew that the success of many of his ministries relied on the prayers of others.

He then commands them to not walk with the idle. See the strength in this. He doesn’t just command them but he commands them in the name of Jesus Christ. Paul had already told them to warn the idle in 1 Thess. 5. Now he is calling for them to be disciplined. The purpose in withdrawing from these disobedient was not so much punishment, but more so simply to deny these disobedient ones the aid…
