Are You Giving Words Of Life?

You are thirsty so, you find a water fountain. You press or turn the button, you bend over and you begin drinking cold water. Ahhhh! it tastes GOOD!
When you are full, you stand up straight… you have been refreshed by cold water. Then, you go back to work. You feel much better now. You have a little more energy.
We have the power to provide the same energy for people who are down and hurting. Proverbs 10:11 says, “The words of the godly are a life-giving fountain; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions.”
Think about the verse… “..the words of godly are a life-giving fountain..” We speak lots of words. Our words have power. Our words have the power to give someone life. How does that happen?
It may happen if we encourage someone. When. someone is down or. doubting themselves, a word of encouragement can be really helpful. Your word of encouragement may be the one thing God uses to keep someone going. There may be someone you know who needs a word of encouragement today. Or, you may cross the path of someone who needs a word of encouragement.

ecently I was in a Starbucks. I placed my order… but I forgot to tell them I wanted it iced. So, I go to the place where you pick up your order and I notice I forgot to tell them that. Now, the coffee has been made. They are about to give it to me and I told them my mistake.
There was no, “Well, sir I’m sorry but THIS is what you ordered…”
The person simply sat that coffee aside and made an iced one. No questions asked.
As they handed me my coffee I said, “I appreciate that… you didn’t have to do that.” The person said, “My pleasure, sir.”
I like to encourage people. If someone does something good I like to commend them. I hope that my words can be words of life to someone.
What about you? Are you speaking words of life? Ask the Lord to help you speak words of life to someone today.
I love this quote from Henri Nouwen;
“Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone’s face? Did I say a word of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love? These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love that I sow now will bear many fruits, here in this world and the life to come.”
